Rock & Doll: Taking the stage already!

So this past weekend I had a show with Dementhia at San Antonio Tx, we went to the CyberGenetic Winter Festival 2011, in which we had the opportunity to open the show for: LEATHER STRIP, MANUFACTURA, REAXION GUERRILLA, SIN DNA and 00TZ 00TZ. It was a big show, where everything had to be perfect; the sound, the performance, the instruments, everything including for me, the outfit…. So, I wasn’t sure what to wear (I believe is something that most of the girls have to deal once in a while). So I was getting ready and packing my stuff, when I looked at my final project for my Fashion Collection Class, at that point I was thinking: “That would be sooo perfect to wear”, so yeah! thats what I did xD

I took my now “favorite” piece from my “ROCK & DOLL” Collection and I performed with it, but since neither Lui Draco (vox from Dementhia) or me had camera I was kind of sad ’cause I didn’t have a memorie of the show or my skirt. But that changed on tuesday!!!!! I found a beautiful picture by COMA MUSIC MAGAZINE that was taken by photographer and magazine owner J Coma Ward.

COMA MUSIC MAGAZINE is an online magazine that support the Goth, Industrial, EBM, and sub-genres of music. They also cover interviews, CD and concert reviews, artist features, videos and photography. I really invite you to check their site and help us to spread the word about the goth/industrial scene, they have really cool things and information there.

Fashion Design + Graphic Design work great together

I’m a strong believer in that advertisment, graphic design and promotion is an important part of the Fashion Industry. I think some of my “mid-level” skills in graphic design started when I realized that your image is everything in any kind of industry, no matter what your business is, you need to know how to sell it to your potential customer especially if your new in the market. So here are some of the examples of my graphic designs for Lady Mond:

Fabric, fabric and more fabric!

Is great when you are searching for materials to add or built your project, I thought I’ll had a really hard time searching for my swatches, but actually it didn’t take that much. I went to my small fabric collection and some local textile stores and I returned happy that I got everything I need. From the vinyl, to the feathers, rings, sateen, lace, everything Now here it’s my fabric boards!

This first one is for my “Vanity in Feathers Collection”, I love the materials, I can image this in a really cute outfit

The second board is for the “Rock & Doll Collection”, I must say I’m a lace and vinyl freak!!

After I got all the materials I went to my home quickly ’cause I couldn’t wait to draft my skirt pattern for my final. I’ll upload pictures of the finished garment very soon.

 

I got my Target Customer!!

Really it wasn’t hard to figure who would be my perfect potential customer for the Rock & Doll Collection, from the first moment I knew it had to be Amelia Arsenic!!

For who doesn’t know her, this is Destroyx:

Amelia Arsenic (aka. destroyx) is a twenty five year old musician, artist, designer, art director and stylist. With a new project dedicated to fashion + art a brand called A is for Arsenic London which is a multidisciplinary project that releases limited edition apparel, cosmetic products, art prints & accessories.

She travels a lot and have previously lived in Sydney/Berlin/NYC but now she’s living in London. Amelia spendS most of her time designing accessories or planning video/photo shoots. She works in music with  cyber punk band Angelspit and own label called Black Pill Red Pill).

Most of the time she wears color red, polka dots, the letter X. She collects high heels, vintage stockings, corsets, latex and antique medical equipment.

Color and Inspiration

This are the colors and inspiration pictures from where I started my Collection:

The two boards I picked for my final project will be Vanity in Feathers and Rock and Doll, I really love the colors that came out of them. To be honest I wanted to make all the boards and sketches for the 4 inspiration boards xD But sorry, just worked on those two, I think I made that choice because, Rock and Doll for example is more “me” and Vanity in Feathers is something completly diferent from what I would ever work on, so I think I have a good choice here, enjoy!!!

Getting the purpose…

Purpose is a great word with a huge meaning!! Purposes in life are so important because without them…what’s the point? Life would be really boring, don’t you think? Not knowing where you want to go, what to do or have no clue of what you want to have in your life.

Since the beginning of times every person has been moved by something. Look at every history book, read about the history of society or even about the biggest corporations, industries, scientists,  artists, every each of them wouldn’t be what it is now if they didn’t had a motive to keep going.

Sometimes people compares me with the little pink rabbit, moving and moving all day long like crazy! And I must confess, “I love to do a lot of things”: from music, dancing, designing, sewing, reading, promoting and of course, learning ♥

And you know something? Right now by having this blog I have a new purpose It’s actually very simple. I would like to share with the world how my life works, the things that I’ve learned in my short 25 years, lol! I’ll like you to know about me and what keeps me moving, my activities, the things that I like to do. I’ll write about the works I do for school, my designs, the costumes/outfits I made or will make, the modification you can do to your garments to refresh them, tips of accessories, color, of beauty and makeup, and my favorite part: The search of Inspiration and get your Expression!! From my music, to my dancing and performances, I’ll tell you all! And I really hope that in the information that will be post here you can find something that will help you, or at least entertain you. I’m pretty open to questions, requests anything, just let me know!
